Ginger Factory Flower & Food weekend is back next year

Purpose Gardening demonstrations and cooking workshops are part of the attraction of the Ginger Flower and Food weekend.

In January 2022, the team at the Ginger Factory are excited to play host to the Ginger Flower and Food weekend.

“It is the time of year that ginger is in full bloom and is the perfect opportunity to showcase all things ginger,” said Tourism Manager, Brenda Bailey.

Between Friday January 21 and Sunday the 23rd, visitors to the Ginger Factory will be able to enjoy cooking workshops and demonstrations, gardening walks and talks, ginger tastings and tours and live music and entertainment.

“It is a ‘meet our makers’ style of experience where people will be able to meet some of our fabulous local producers,” Brenda said.

Dominique Rizzo, one of Queensland leading female chefs creating purely delicious, healthy real food with Buderim Ginger will feature, alongside Brisbane girl and European chocolate connoisseur Brigid Woolnough and Cecilia (CC) Diaz-Peterson, Founder of CC’s Rosella products will all be there to share their knowledge with visitors.

For the gardeners, there will be talks by Cath Manuel, much loved and respected horticulturalist who will be presenting from Soil to Supper, Dr Tim Heard – entomologist and ex - CSIRO research scientist discussing Bee hotels and more, and Maureen Simon who will share everything you need to know about Mt Towen Tropicals

“A selection of our beautiful ginger products and honeys will be available for sale, along with over 3,000 flowering ginger plants.

“All the usual factory tours, boat and train rides and the Gruffalo Trail will be happening and in the background there will be live jazz music from The Robyn Brown Trio to set the scene. Dame Edna Average (who needs no introduction), will also be making an appearance.

“Last year’s event had to be cancelled and we are all so excited to bring this weekend to our visitors in January.”

Kids can visit Santa at the Ginger Factory

Take the kids along for some festive-season fun at The Ginger Factory to meet Santa in his Workshop, take Christmas photos, soak in our Christmas displays and find unique, Aussie Christmas gifts.  

Santa’s Workshop will be open for multiple days throughout the three weeks before Christmas.

Dates: 22nd – 24th of December. Time: 9:30am–1:30pm.
